Redskins send QB Colt McCoy (neck) to IR

The Washington Redskins have sent QB Colt McCoy to injured reserve, ending his 2014 season. In five games (four starts) for the Redskins this season, McCoy completed 71.1 percent of his passes with a 4:3 TD-to-INT ratio. QB Robert Griffin III is expected to start the final two games of the season while being backed up by Kirk Cousins. As error-prone as Griffin has been this season, his style of play and the threat he presents as a runner benefits Alfred Morris. The Florida Atlantic product could be primed for a big week against an Eagles defense that has allowed six rushing touchdowns to RBs in its past six games. Brady disagrees with Knighton's Super assessment. (Getty)

After the Broncos toppled the Chargers on Sunday, clinching the AFC West for the fourth-straight year, Denver defensive end Terrance Knighton decided to guarantee the Broncos would win the Super Bowl.

"It doesn't matter what happens. At the end of the year, we're hoisting that trophy. I don't care if New England doesn't lose again," Knighton told the Denver Post. "I don't care where we have to play. I don't care who our opponent is. We're not going to be satisfied until we hoist that trophy. So if we've got to go to New England [in the playoffs] and win somewhere we're not used to winning, we're going to make it happen. Write that. And put a big period after that one."

Worth noting: if New England doesn't lose again they will technically win the Super Bowl. Just saying.

Asked about that proclamation this week, Tom Brady declined to anger Knighton by firing back at him, but politely threw out a quote from his dad designed to talk a little smack.

"Pot Roast is a big man, so I would never say anything that would get him mad at me," Brady said. "But I will just say there is a lot of football left to be played. [The Broncos will] have their chance and we'll have our chance, and we will do our talking on the field. ...

"And my dad always told me, 'Well done is better than well said.' In the meantime, we have a lot of football left to play, and it starts this weekend Sunday at the Jets, and nothing is really clinched at this point. There's still two very important games remaining on our schedule, and that's what my focus is on."

Bonus points to Brady for the "Pot Roast well done" culinary pun, whether he meant it or not.

The Patriots have the Jets and Bills left to lock down the No. 1 seed in the AFC and, quite frankly, they should do so easily.

Also quite frankly: the Pats already beat the Broncos. This year. In New England. Quite handily.

Knighton's confidence is a good thing because confidence is never bad. But he would probably be best not giving the Pats free bulletin board material.

Falcons WR Julio Jones' Week 16 status unclear

We kind of have to have a contingency both ways. We have some 'what if Julio plays,' and some 'what if Julio does not play.' ... That's one of the hardest things about not knowing if one of your best guys is going to go."Harry Douglas would draw the start if Jones were to miss Sunday's game. Normal0falsefalsefalseEN-USJAX-NONE /* Style Definitions */table.MsoNormalTable{mso-style-name:"Table Normal";mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0;mso-tstyle-colband-size:0;mso-style-noshow:yes;mso-style-priority:99;mso-style-parent:"";mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt;mso-para-margin:0in;mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt;mso-pagination:widow-orphan;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Cambria;mso-ascii-font-family:Cambria;mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-hansi-font-family:Cambria;mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;}

This is a situation that could come down to a game-time decision. Week 16 brings a juicy matchup for all Falcons WRs in a must-win game against the New Orleans Saints, who have allowed the 10th-most fantasy points to the position. Douglas shined in Jones' absence in Week 15, catching 10 of his 14 targets for 131 yards. Check back with Scout Fantasy throughout the week for updates on the league's second-leading wideout.

Johnny Manziel stumbled through his first NFL start. (USATSI) Like a lot of rookies, Johnny Manziel stumbled through his first NFL start. (USATSI)

After nearly four months of speculating when Johnny Manziel would find his way into the lineup, we're now left wondering how long it will be until he plays himself right out of the league. But that's the nature of the NFL, where knee-jerk reactions reign.

We talked about this phenomenon in The Week in Overreactions.

The one-sentence takeaway: One game shouldn't define Manziel's career, even if that's what seems to be happening.

ESPN analyst and former Steelers running back Merril Hoge looks prescient after proclaiming Sunday morning that Johnny Football had "first-round hype with sixth-round talent," before pointing out a day later that whoever drafted Manziel "needs to be fired."

NFL Films' Greg Cosell, whose knowledge of X's and O's rivals most coaches, has studied Manziel's abysmal game tape against the Bengals. His conclusion: "The problem is Manziel didn't want to stay in the pocket," Cosell wrote on Yahoo.com. "He lacks any feel for the pocket, has almost no pocket patience and discipline and is very quick to move and play what I call 'random football' outside of the structure of the offense."

Sounds a lot like the criticisms leveled at Robert Griffin III, now in his third NFL season.

Cosell also noted that Manziel had an "average arm by NFL standards," and "needs functional space and a clean pocket to step up into throws and drive the ball ... He works hard to put any velocity on his throws."

Meanwhile, NFL Network draft guru Mike Mayock said that, "The only athletic quarterbacks that survive in the NFL are the ones that learn how to win from within the pocket."

Fair criticism, all of it. But here's Mayock in March, after Manziel blew away everyone in attendance at his pro day.

"There's a leap of faith involved from a general manager or team perspective if you want to take this kid in the top 10," Mayock said at the time. "When chaos happens, he's phenomenal. What you have to buy into, if he's a top-10 pick, is that he's going to learn. If you combine his spontaneity with an ability to win from within the pocket, then you've got something unique in today's NFL. If you get that, yeah, he's the No. 1 pick in the draft."

And NFL Network colleague Kurt Warner, also at Manziel's pro day, said, "He showed us he can make all the throws. That deep ball was impeccable. Great touch, good enough velocity and was able to set it out there."

This isn't to call out Mayock, who is one of the media's best talent evaluators, or Warner, who has forgotten more about the quarterback position than we'll ever know. Instead, it's to point out just how easy it is to get caught up in Manziel Mania -- good or bad -- in the moment.

Yes, Manziel was god-awful on Sunday. But he also blew the doors off his pro day workout nine months ago. Does he have a lot to work on? Absolutely. But he's made one start.

"Can he get there with experience? Maybe," Cosell wrote. "But he has a lot to overcome to be a high-level NFL quarterback. He's a small quarterback with average arm strength and almost no pocket skills and discipline at this point."

Which is exactly what he was back in March. It's just that nobody saw it back then.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones: RB DeMarco Murray could be game-time decision, can play without practice

To the many fantasy owners waiting for official word on the Week 16 availability of Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray: You'll probably have to wait until 90 minutes prior to Sunday's kickoff against the Colts."I don't think we'd need to see [Murray] practice," team owner Jerry Jones told the media Tuesday. "I think it's more a question of the condition of the hand at game time and what we can do to protect. Yeah, I think that it's one of those that you want to wait and see just how he is feeling right before the game."Murray underwent surgery Monday evening to fix a broken bone in his left hand. If he can't play in Week 16, Joseph Randle would likely start and have Lance Dunbar continue to fill the role of change-of-pace back.

This doesn't mean that we're going to stop writing about Murray. Of course, everyone will be parsing through every little thing said from now until Sunday, trying to get an inkling of what's going to happen with the game's leading rusher. Just don't panic if Murray doesn't practice on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.Oh, and if you haven't done so already, pick up Randle and Dunbar, in that order. Randle is in line to handle the majority of the carries, including the work down by the goal line, against a middle-of-the-pack run defense. Dunbar has some appeal as a deep PPR flex.

Ravens RB Lorenzo Taliaferro placed on IR with sprained foot

Rookie running back Lorenzo Taliaferro was placed on season-ending injured reserve by Baltimore Tuesday, due to a sprained foot. The Ravens' runner had a small amount of success for the team that cut lead running back, Ray Rice, after a media firestorm around a domestic violence case involving him and his then-fiancee, now wife, Janay.Justin Forsett took emerged as the best running back in Gary Kubiak's offense and manned the starting role for most of the 2014 season. Taliaferro 292 yards on 68 carries and managed four touchdowns in a backup role.

Forsett had a career-year in 2014, emerging as a top 10 fantasy RB in PPR leagues. However, at 29 years-old, he's not likely in the Ravens' long-term plans. At just 22 years-old, the Ravens' 2014 fourth-round pick, Taliaferro, could very well emerge as the lead dog in Baltimore in 2015. He's got more upside than Bernard Pierce and is definitely worth keeping an eye on in dynasty leagues and also in 2015 re-drafts.

UPDATE: Falcons WR Julio Jones runs at practice Saturday; game-time decision

Updating yesterday's report, Jeff Darlington is reporting that Falcons WR Julio Jones ran at practice Saturday and will test his hip out Sunday during warm-ups. He's a true game-time decision for the Falcons game with Pittsburgh.

The good news is, if you are in a position where an unhealthy Julio is a best-option for you, he plays at 1:00 ET, so you'll have the information you need to make the right lineup moves by noon. However, with a bum hip, he's a risky play this week, even if he does suit up.

Texans QB Ryan Fitzpatrick breaks leg; backup QB Tom Savage injures knee

Could Thad Lewis be the Texans' starting quarterback in Week 16. That's a legitimate question after what happened Sunday in Indianapolis. Starting QB Ryan Fitzpatrick lasted a little more than a quarter before breaking his left leg. He was carted to the locker room, and his season is obviously over.Fourth-round rookie Tom Savage replaced Fitzpatrick and completed 10 of his 19 passes for 127 yards and an interception. However, he took a shot to his right knee late in the 17-10 defeat and will undergo an MRI on Monday. If he needs to miss any time, Lewis, who was inactive for today's game, would likely start in Week 16 versus Baltimore. He is the only fully healthy quarterback on Houston's roster at the moment.

Savage's numbers don't begin to show you how poorly he played. He completely botched a couple of simple handoffs to Arian Foster and looked generally overwhelmed. Although he gets a pass considering his lack of practice reps. He connected with DeAndre Hopkins three times for 53 yards. But against the Ravens' attacking D, this offense and all of its parts are in trouble next week, no matter who is under center. Downgrade all of your Texans for fantasy championship week.

Packers RB Eddie Lacy limited Thursday, could miss Week 15

When asked about his status for Week 15, Packers running back Eddie Lacy said that he "still has hurdles to clear" and that he won't "put the team at a disadvantage if he can't play effectively."Despite going through limited practice on Wednesday and Thursday, it's safe to say Lacy is extremely questionable for the Packers' game at Buffalo this weekend.

If Lacy can't play, it will be James Starks getting the start at RB. Starks is capable, but his ceiling isn't as high as Lacy's. If you're a Lacy owner, have a backup plan in place and check back Friday to see if and/or how much he practices. That could be the telling sign as to whether he suits up versus the Bills. Nobody likes the "game-time decision" label being slapped onto one of their studs during the fantasy playoffs, but that's shaping up to be the case with this Alabama alum.

Former NFL safety Darren Sharper and two accomplices were indicted on rape charges in New Orleans, according to multiple news outlets.

Sharper could face a life sentence in prison after a grand jury indicted him on two counts of aggravated rape and one count of simple rape stemming from multiple incidents.

Erik Nunez was charged with two counts of aggravated rape and one count of obstruction of justice. Brandon Licciardi was charged with one count of aggravated rape, three counts of human trafficking for the purposes of providing sexual conduct and one count of battery with a dangerous weapon.

Sharper was previously indicted on two counts of sexual assault and three counts of administering dangerous drugs in Arizona in March.

The former Packers/Vikings/Saints safety was initially arrested in Los Angeles in January and charged with two counts of rape. He has been accused of raping at least nine different women in five different states.

All three men face a life sentence in prison without parole if convicted.

Sharper has been jailed since February after turning himself in when New Orleans arrest warrants were issued.

Chargers RB Ryan Mathews misses Wednesday practice with ankle injury, status unknown

Chargers RB Ryan Mathews missed practice Wednesday with an ankle injury he sustained in Week 14. His status is currently unknown for Sunday's game against Denver. If Mathews is ruled out, Donald Brown will likely get the start at running back, with Branden Oliver backing him up.

Against the Broncos' tough run defense and likely to be playing from behind, there isn't a San Diego running back that's worth trusting unless you're in a real bind this week. If you are planning to use Matthews, be sure you have a backup plan in place before Sunday.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams 'probably' won't play Sunday

Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams practiced Thursday for the first time since breaking his right middle finger in Week 13. But it may not do him any good in regards to this weekend's game versus the Buccaneers. Head coach Ron Rivera said Thursday that Williams will "probably" miss his second consecutive contest due to the injury.

Jonathan Stewart's owners are certainly hoping Williams needs another week to heal. Stewart is coming off of a 155-yard outing and without Williams, he would be in line for 20-plus touches against a Tampa Bay defense that just allowed Joique Bell to gather 133 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns on 23 chances.

Jay Gruden may have bitten off more than he can chew in DC. (Getty Images) Jay Gruden may have bitten off more than he can chew in DC. (Getty Images)

Thirteen games into the season and the dysfunction in Washington has already exceeded Jay Gruden's expectations. Robert Griffin III has been benched, the entire defense should be, and there's no reason to think this gets any better in the coming months.

Griffin watched from the sidelines in Week 13 as Colt McCoy got the start, but the former first-round pick made a brief appearance last Sunday after McCoy suffered a neck injury. Gruden says that McCoy will start this week if he's healthy, which again makes you wonder about Griffin's future in Washington.

Griffin's struggles have been well documented -- and can be summed up in this one screen shot, when he had five (!) open receivers and a clean pocket and managed to find none of them.

Robert Griffin III somehow missed FIVE open receivers vs. Tampa Bay. (FOX) Robert Griffin III somehow missed all five open receivers vs. Tampa Bay. (FOX)

But there must be an offensive system in which RG3 can survive, right? If there is, Gruden has yet to find it.

“I don't know what offense they are talking about,” Gruden said, via the Washington Post. “As far as offenses that I have studied in the National Football League, we all run similar dropback concepts. Not everybody runs the zone read.

“We run the zone read to try to help him out. We run a lot more play-actions and bootlegs than most teams. ...If you play quarterback in the National Football League, you're going to have to drop back and throw it.”

We'll mention again what we said 11 months ago when Gruden was hired: Back in 2011, when Gruden was the Bengals' offensive coordinator, he had a chance to take Colin Kaepernick, a quarterback whose style is similar to Griffin's, but went with Andy Dalton instead.

Dalton had success in Gruden's scheme, one that relied on getting the ball out quickly and letting his playmakers, well, make plays. That's not Griffin's style, though he struggled prior to Gruden's arrival.

The Post's Jason Reid encapsulates Gruden's predicament in just two sentences: "(Redskins owner Dan) Snyder and (general manager Bruce) Allen want to see (Griffin become a dropback passer), and those are the right people to have in your corner. Gruden is merely the coach. And at soul-crushing Redskins Park, that's one of the worst jobs to have."

Giants RB Rashad Jennings to see full workload in Week 15

One week after being limited to three touches due to an ankle injury Giants RB Rashad Jennings is not listed on the Week 15 injury report. When asked about Jennings' status, head coach Tom Coughlin said his lead running back should be able to handle a full workload in Sunday's divisional matchup against the Redskins. Jennings has been solid all year when healthy. Not seeing his name on the injury report should bring a sigh of relief to all owners who made it through Round 1 of the fantasy playoffs. The matchup will limit the veteran's value to RB2 status, as Washington has been formidable against the run all year. With fellow RB Andre Williams coming off of his best game as a professional, rushing for 131 yards and a touchdown, it's hard not to see him in the mix as well. Fantasy owners should expect decent overall production out of Jennings since he is always a threat as a receiver out of the backfield and should once again get the bulk of the carries. Sam Bradford very well could return to St. Louis next year. (USATSI) Sam Bradford very well could return to St. Louis next year. (USATSI)

For two straight seasons, Rams quarterback Sam Bradford has been placed on the IR list with a torn ACL. Combining his history of injuries with his decent but not spectacular play during his five-year career, it's not difficult to understand why St. Louis might be thinking about moving on from the player it drafted No. 1 overall in 2010.

But even though the Rams flirted with the idea of drafting Johnny Manziel in 2014, NFL Network's Albert Breer says that Bradford remains in the team's plans for 2015.

For now, Bradford is scheduled to make about $13 million for 2015 and count $16.6 million against the salary cap -- which will complete his $78 million rookie deal -- but the Rams hypothetically could ask him to take a paycut for next season in order to gain some cap relief.

Either way, Rams coach Jeff Fisher told Breer that he wants Bradford back and that part of the reason he took the St. Louis job in the first place was because of the quarterback. Even as replacements Austin Davis and Shaun Hill have found some success this season, Fisher hasn't forgotten about Bradford.

In the past four seasons, Bradford has missed 31 of 64 games due to injury. That missed time likely will cost him money heading into next year.

“That Cam's just happy to be alive. (USATSI)

The fact that Panthers quarterback Cam Newton survived his wreck in Charlotte is a miracle. There was someone looking out for him upstairs and he knows it.

Newton was released from the hospital on Wednesday and posted an inspired message on Instagram. On Thursday he met with the media and noted he thinks he's on the Big Guy's fantasy team.

"I'm on somebody's fantasy league and I think it's the man upstairs," Newton said.

Newton is likely going to miss all of Sunday's Week 15 game against the Buccaneers -- Derek Anderson is officially the starter -- but he doesn't care, pointing out he's happy just to be breathing.

"I feel great. I could be feeling worse, as we all know," Newton said. "I'm lucky to be standing here. God is good."

He certainly is. But here's the real question: is Newton on God's fantasy team? Because you'd think he would want him active for the playoffs.

Texans WR Andre Johnson misses practice Wednesday due to concussion, currently day-to-day

The Houston Texans could be without wide receiver Andre Johnson when they face divisional foe the Indianapolis Colts, in Week 14. Johnson was knocked out of the team's 27-13 win at Jacksonville on a second quarter hit by Jaguars' LB Telvin Smith and has yet to practice this week. When asked about Johnson's status after the missed practice, head coach Bill O'Brien was mum, not saying whether Johnson had made any progress in the league's concussion protocol. The only thing he stated was the the 33 year-old Johnson was, "day-to-day."

Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (knee, ankle) misses practice

Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles missed Wednesday practice due to swelling in his knee and ankle soreness. Charles sustained the knee injury in Week 13's loss to the Broncos, but he has remained on the field without seeing a decrease in work over the past two weeks. When asked about Charles' status for Week 15, head coach Andy Reid said, "I think he'll be OK, but he's going to go through treatment. We'll just see." The Chiefs will host the Raiders this Sunday. Charles' status throughout the week will be one of the most closely monitored situations in all of fantasy football. Check back with FFToolbox and Scout Fantasy throughout the week as we will update his status as information becomes available. If Charles is unable to go, RB Knile Davis will be a workhorse that can elevate a fantasy team to championship week. Of course, Charles' owners are hoping oh so dearly that their RB1 can suit up against the Raiders, who have one of the worst run defenses in the league They were just gashed by Charles for 122 total yards and two touchdowns a few weeks ago. Ryan Clark has bigger issues than Chris Cooley's thoughts on the team. (Getty Images) Ryan Clark has bigger issues than Chris Cooley's thoughts on the team. (Getty Images)

Chris Cooley played for the Redskins for nine seasons and now covers the team as a member of the media. On Wednesday, during his nightly radio show on ESPN 980, Cooley recounted his trip to Redskins Park earlier that day.

"It's 4 o'clock, and I got the first parking space next to the door," Cooley said, via the Richmond Times-Dispatch. "4 o'clock on a Wednesday! So I asked myself (about their film-watching tendencies) as I walked in, and after I watch the film with the realization that the Rams had a lot of gimmicky (stuff) that should have been easily picked up on."

Cooley pointed out that having game film available on the iPad was a "cop out."

"You're going to say, oh yeah, I'm going to go home and watch this film," he said. "And I know in my heart, as a player, that I had good intentions to spend a little bit of extra time ... it rarely went in the DVD player."

Veteran safety Ryan Clark, who grades out as the team's worst defender, according to ProFootballFocus.com, took issue with Cooley's characterization that the Redskins have been ill-prepared in recent weeks.

"First and foremost, I don't pay attention to Chris Cooley" Clark began.

"Everybody doesn't have to do the same thing," he continued. "Everybody doesn't have to be first in, first out. I've played with a ton of extremely good football players who were the last to work in the morning, and they were first to leave, and they produced.

"So I think that is an excuse that people try to make up, because people try to find reasons why things aren't working, so you want to say people don't work hard, people aren't in the building, you know what I mean?"

Clark added: "I played with Cooley. And when I was in the building in the mornings and in the evenings, he wasn't here with me. You know what I mean?

Given Cooley's predilection for studying his playbook while stark naked, that was probably in everyone's best interest.

Report: Cardinals will shut down RB Andre Ellington for rest of season

The Cardinals notched their 10th victory of the season Sunday and currently sit with the No. 1 seed in the NFC. If they want to hold onto their lofty perch, they will have to do so without their leading rusher. According to Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910 AM in Arizona, Ellington will be placed on injured reserve because of hip and groin injuries. Jurecki reports that Ellington will visit a specialist in Philadelphia this week to find out the extent of his injuries. Jurecki says that Ellington has a sports hernia to go along with his hip pointer. Plus, prior to Week 14, Ellington had been playing through a torn ligament in his foot for the entire season. His season will end after 201 carries and 660 rushing yards (3.3 yards per carry). He also caught 46 passes for 395 yards. Ellington scored five total touchdowns.

Ellington's production had really fallen off since Week 10. It's plausible to think the 200-pound back simply broke down after three consecutive games (Weeks 7-9) with at least 20 carries. After Week 9, Ellington didn't gain more than 42 rushing yards in any contest, averaged fewer than 2 yards per carry and had just one rush longer than 9 yards. He's an exciting player, but perhaps this year taught us that Ellington isn't made to be a workhorse-type back. At least Bruce Arians gave him a chance to be just that.On Sunday against Kansas City, Stepfan Taylor and Marion Grice were expected to lead Arizona's backfield. So, of course Kerwynn Williams, who was signed off of the practice squad Friday, was given 19 carries and collected 100 yards. Taylor got the start, but gained 26 yards on just seven touches. Grice took three carries for 6 yards. This Cardinals rushing attack has a tough matchup in Week 15 as it will visit the Rams on Thursday night. I can't imagine any owner vying to play for a fantasy championship would trust Williams, a second-year seventh-round pick from Utah State, after one good game. Today's work represented Williams' first offensive touches in an NFL game. He, like Ellington, is an undersized player. He stands at just 5-foot-8 and 198 pounds.

Cam Newton says he's lucky to be alive. (Twitter/@AmandaBazemore) Cam Newton says he's lucky to be alive. (Twitter/@AmandaBazemore)

After spending almost 24 hours in the hospital following Tuesday's car crash in Charlotte, Cam Newton is back at home and thankful to be alive.

The Panthers quarterback, who suffered two fractures in his back, took to Instagram on Wednesday night to urge his fans to "live life to its fullest and love the people who are close to you."

Along with the message, which you can read below, Newton posted a picture of his damaged truck.

From Newton's Instagram:

I do not know where to begin because by the look of that picture soMEone is supposed to be dead or severely injured worse than what I am right now! While I am resting up the thought that keeps flashing in my mind is that GOD IS GOOD and someone has there protective hands on my life shielding me from any danger that may come my way! I know one thing, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF "IF" you are holding a grudge against someone, "IF" you don't tell the people that's close and dear to you that "YOU LOVE THEM" every chance you get, "IF" your mad because something didn't go your way today!

L1FE IS TO SHORT FOR YOU NOT TO APPRECIATE IT TO THE FULLNESS; THROUGH THE GOOD AND THE BAD! I thank you to the people who have been keeping me in there prayers and well wishes for a speedy recovery! I am appreciative for the many great things GOD has given me to be thankful for.

It's a old cliché statement but it says "GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS!" And as that crash constantly plays back in my mind every time I close my eyes, I can't go another day without me THANKING GOD for the opportunities he has given me in my life and this accident puts ALOT of things in perspective of what's important and what's not!

SHAMEonYOU if YOU go another second in life with holding a grudge or HATING on someone, taking life for granted, or just not appreciating the breath you just breathed; trust and believe there are plenty people with illnesses, people in the hospital, or even people that are 6ft under the earth that W1SH they had "another"opportunity to do so!

So if you read this I challenge you to L1VE life to the fullness everyday! 1OVE the people who are close to you (and don't be afraid to tell them as well)! FORG1VE "whoever" for "whatever" they did! Trust when I tell you that L1FE is to short for you NOT to do those things! #THANKyouJESUSforALLOWINGmeTOseeANOTHERday.

Police have determined that Newton wasn't at fault in the crash. The Panthers quarterback was driving the speed limit when the other driver pulled out in front of him at the intersection you see below.

Here's what Newton's truck looked like after the wreck. The Panthers have already announced that Newton won't be playing on Sunday and that Derek Anderson will be starting in his place.

The Colts have the fifth-stingiest defense against wide receivers in fantasy this season, so the matchup is already a tough one. Wisconsin junior running back Melvin Gordon confirmed on the “Dan Patrick Show” Wednesday morning what most expected that he will skip his senior season and enter the 2015 NFL Draft.

Gordon is currently ranked as the No. 1 running back prospect for the 2015 class by NFLDraftScout.com and a potential first round pick. The running back position has been shut out of the first round the past two years and Gordon is considered the best chance to snap that two-year year streak. Georgia's Todd Gurley might be the best talent at the running back position in this draft class, but his recent ACL surgery clouds his draft projection.

A Heisman Trophy finalist, Gordon became the fastest running back in FBS history to reach the 2,000-yard rushing mark in a season, achieving it in just 241 rush attempts. He enters the bowl game with 2,336 yards rushing this season on 309 carries (7.6 average) and 26 touchdowns. Gordon also tallied a career-high 17 catches in 2014, adding three scores receiving.

Gordon has electric feet to make defenders miss with deceiving power to press the line of scrimmage and barrel forward for positive yards. He plays extremely fast with instant reactions, which makes it tough for would-be tacklers to square up and finish him. Gordon is at his best using his acceleration and balance to bounce runs outside and race downfield and most of his highlight reel runs include jump stops with the ability to instantly turn on the jets.

The key for Gordon's NFL Draft grade is his ability as a pass catcher and blocker, allowing him to hold up as an every down back at the next level.

“Geno Geno still believes in himself. (USATSI)

The Jets are a sinking ship, slammed full of multiple captains trying to steer in multiple directions. On board is quarterback Geno Smith, already buried for his play despite being handed a limited group of weapons to work with.

Most people have written off Smith but he still believes in his potential, stating he's shown "flashes" of being "a Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback."

"I've shown flashes of being a Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback, but what we're looking for here is consistency," Smith said Tuesday, via Newsday. "The best teams have consistent quarterback play and I realize that and that's truly what I want to show to the fans and everyone outside the building."

People are going to laugh about this quote (and people are definitely not going to mention Smith said this while doing charitable work, handing out coats to the homeless). That's OK. Smith hasn't been great for most of his two-year career.

But he has flashed at time. Small flashes, but they're flashes nonetheless.

And what do people want? Smith to give up on himself, retire from the NFL and call it a day? He's 24 years old. There's a lot of football ahead for him.

At the very least you know he's tough. No one could play in that market if they weren't.

"If anyone wants to know if I'm the future or the franchise [quarterback], you can just look at the way I've handled myself in the face of adversity," Smith said. "Success is easy to handle at times, but I think the true test of a man is how he handles himself when things aren't going as well."

Panthers QB Derek Anderson will draw the start Sunday

Following Cam Newton's car accident Tuesday, which resulted in two fractured transverse processes in his back, the Panthers have announced that QB Derek Anderson will start Sunday versus Tampa Bay. The team has referred to Newton's status as day-to-day, leaving open the possibility that he will return in Week 16. Normal0falsefalsefalseEN-USJAX-NONE /* Style Definitions */table.MsoNormalTable{mso-style-name:"Table Normal";mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0;mso-tstyle-colband-size:0;mso-style-noshow:yes;mso-style-priority:99;mso-style-parent:"";mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt;mso-para-margin:0in;mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt;mso-pagination:widow-orphan;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Cambria;mso-ascii-font-family:Cambria;mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-hansi-font-family:Cambria;mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;}

Believe it or not, the 4-8 Panthers are still in the playoff hunt as they sit only a half game behind the NFC South-leading Falcons and Saints. The news of Newton's injury should not deter Panthers fans or fantasy owners as Anderson has seen this Tampa Bay defense before and performed well. The veteran QB started Week 1 for the then-injured Newton and produced a line of 230 yards, two touchdowns and no turnovers. Normal0falsefalsefalseEN-USJAX-NONE /* Style Definitions */table.MsoNormalTable{mso-style-name:"Table Normal";mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0;mso-tstyle-colband-size:0;mso-style-noshow:yes;mso-style-priority:99;mso-style-parent:"";mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt;mso-para-margin:0in;mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt;mso-pagination:widow-orphan;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Cambria;mso-ascii-font-family:Cambria;mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-hansi-font-family:Cambria;mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;} The news should boost white-hot RB Jonathan Stewart's outlook for Sunday's matchup as well as rookie WR Kelvin Benjamin's. Anderson has thrown four touchdowns in limited action this season, two of them going to Benjamin.
