Neal could be headed to Charlotte if Kohl signs off on it. (USATSI) Gary Neal could be headed to Charlotte if owner Herb Kohl signs off on it. (USATSI)

The Milwaukee Bucks have traded Gary Neal and Luke Ridnour to the Charlotte Bobcats for Ramon Sessions and Jeff Adrien, Ken Berger of CBSSports.com confirms. The details of the trade were first reported by Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer and Marc Stein of ESPN.com.

The Bucks end up saving money in this trade, which was a big motivation in getting it done. There were questions of whether or not Senator Herb Kohl would sign off on a Neal for Sessions swap because Sessions makes more money than Neal this season. By including Ridnour and Adrien in the trade, Milwaukee actually ends up saving a little over $2 million this season and have $3.25 million next season with both incoming players' deals expiring.

Neal has been displeased with his time in Milwaukee so far, even getting into a verbal altercation with teammate Larry Sanders earlier this season. He signed with the Bucks this summer, hoping to help them get back to the playoffs after huge roster and coaching turnover. Instead, the Bucks have been the worst team in the NBA. Ridnour was re-acquired by the organization this past summer in a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Sessions started his career with the Bucks, playing his first two seasons in the NBA there. His career-high of 24 assists in a game came with the Bucks in 2008.

Spurs trade Nando De Colo to Raptors for Austin Daye

Nando De Colo fell out of the Spurs rotation, and Austin Daye was even further outside the Raptors’.

Maybe a change of scenery will do both good.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

The Spurs will save a little money this season, the Raptors a little next season. De Colo is paid more this year and has an expiring contract, and Daye’s is guaranteed for $250,000 next year. The deal is pretty neutral money-wise.

De Colo will give the Raptors more depth in their backcourt, where Greivis Vasquez is their only suitable reserve. De Colo might not be any better than Toronto’s other reserve guards, but more options give the Raptors a better chance of finding someone to crack through.

Daye’s strength is supposed to be outside shooting, but he’s had more bad 3-point shooting seasons than good ones and is just 34.9 percent from beyond the arc for his career. Maybe if the Spurs allow him to focus on only 3-point shooting, their system will get him enough open looks to make playing him viable.

Most likely, though, two teams just exchanged end-of-bench fodder.
