Almost a year to the day after linebacker James Harrison tweeted his goodbyes to Steelers Nation, he did the same to Bengals fans Thursday.

The Bengals confirmed the news.

Harrison, the 2008 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, and the Steelers parted ways last spring after the linebacker refused to a pay cut. He wound up signing for less with the Bengals where he started 10 games in 2013 and registered 30 tackles with two sacks and an interception.

Compared to other Bengals linebackers, Harrison played well, according to ProFootballFocus.com. His grade of 8.4 was just behind Vontaze Burfict (10.6) and ahead of Vincent Rey (6.3), Rey Maualuga (-10.2), Michael Boley (-0.5) and Jayson DiManche (-0.1).

But at 35, Harrison wasn't nearly the player he was in Pittsburgh, and the Bengals decided to get younger (and cheaper) at the position.

Ravens re-sign WR Jacoby Jones for 4 years, $14 million



While the Ravens look for outside help to bolster their receiving corps, they have signed one of their own. The Ravens and Jacoby Jones agreed to terms on a four-year contract worth $14 million on Wednesday with $4.5 million guaranteed. In 2013, Jones caught 37 passes for 455 yards and two scores. But he also gained more than 1,100 yards returning kicks and punts.



The financial value in terms of salary is similar to the deal Tennessee gave Dexter McCluster, but Jones is now under contract through his age-33 season. McCluster's expires when he is only 28.Those two players are similar, not in body type, but skill set. Both are fast, big-play guys who contribute on offense but have found their calling on special teams. Jones racked up more than 2,600 return yards over the past two seasons. He is valuable to the Ravens in that regard, but fairly forgettable in fantasy. He has never topped 600 receiving yards in any of his seven seasons.
