The Jaguars may still be working on finding their next franchise quarterback, but in the meantime, coach Gus Bradley is bolstering a defense that ranked 28th last season, according to Football Outsiders' advanced metrics. And he's doing it with some familiar faces.
Over the weekend, Bradley, formerly the Seahawks' defensive coordinator, was reunited with defensive lineman Red Bryant, who had been in Seattle since 2008. And on Thursday, former Seahawks pass-rushing specialist Chris Clemons also joined the Jags, according to several media reports.
And just to prove that the Jacksonville pipeline extends beyond Seattle, the team agreed to terms with former Steelers defensive end Ziggy Hood.
And in a somewhat surprising move, the team also re-signed defensive end Jason Babin, according to the Florida Times-Union's Ryan O'Halloran.
Clemons became expendable in Seattle when the team targeted Michael Bennett, but when healthy he can be very disruptive. From 2010-12, Clemons averaged 11 sacks per season before tearing his ACL in a January 2013 playoff game. Last season, he started 11 games and had 4.5 sacks.
Hood never lived up to his first-round pedigree in Pittsburgh. After starting every game in 2012, he was benched for Cam Heyward last season, and started just seven times. In five NFL seasons, he has 11.5 sacks.

With Talib heading for the mountains, Pats sign all-pro DB Revis
It didn't take long for this scenario to open and close. New England Patriots stud DB Aqib Talib bolts for Denver. Tampa Bay cuts Darrelle Revis. Patriots replace Talib with Revis. That all took less than 24 hours. In a case of the rich getting richer, two of the league's top cover corners have landed on the two teams that represented the AFC in it's Championship game last season. Revis played one season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and in signing a one year-$12 million deal with the Patriots, he is certain to be one of the big free agent stories again this time next year.In his one season in Tampa, Revis helped the Bucs pass defense go from a league-worst 32nd in 2012 to 17th in 2013. He had two interceptions and defended 11 passes, while being selected to his fifth Pro Bowl in six seasons.
While this is big news for the Patriots and in the NFL in general, it's not much fantasy-wise. Until the fantasy world comes up with a "QB didn't throw it because they were scared of this guy" stat, guys like Revis have minimal value in IDP leagues. He is one of the top 5 NFL DB's, yet was only ranked #37 by FFToolbox going into the 2013 season. Expect the Patriots pass defense to improve a little this season. Talib was good. Revis is better. They were #18 in the league in passing yards allowed last season. WIth the addition of Revis, their pass defense should be top 15, possibly top 10.
