Report: Lions, Joique Bell reach 3-year deal

With running back Joique Bell coming off the most-productive season of his career (650 yards, eight touchdowns) and with his ability to complement Reggie Bush, the Lions have rewarded him with a two-year deal for $7 million with $4.3 million guaranteed, according to ESPN's Adam Caplan.

Bell had previously on Tuesday been given a restricted free agent tender of $2.187 million for the 2014 season, and as ESPN.com explains, the new two-year deal will be implemented after that. All told, it's basically a three-year deal for Bell worth about $9 million.

Along with his rushing ability, Bell also has been strong catching passes out of the backfield, combining for 103 receptions in 2012 and 2013. Together with Bush, the two combined for 2,709 all-purpose yards last year.

As Bell said, he wanted to stay in Detroit for the long term.

"I do understand I'm a free agent, and I understand how the business works," Bell said in January. "I would like to just bypass all this and sign a long-term deal. Just knock it out.

"I don't what to go nowhere, I know the fans don't want me to go nowhere, I know the team doesn't want me to go nowhere, the front office doesn't want me to go anywhere. So let's just make this happen."

Tampa Bay looking to trade CB Darrelle Revis



Darrelle Revis is apparently too expensive for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While Revis had a great 2013, if he were on the roster after Tuesday at 4:00 pm, the Bucs would owe him a 1.5 million dollar roster bonus and a fourth round pick owed the Jets, would become a third round pick.



When new head coach Lovie Smith took over earlier this year, it looked like a perfect match for Revis. Revis, however, is the highest paid corner in the league by a wide margin and the contract belongs to the previous regime in Tampa, not GM Jason Licht or Smith. Revis' would account for a 16 million dollar cap hit this year.Revis' deal may make a trade difficult, while there will be teams interested, not that many can afford him at his current rate. ESPN reports that if a trading partner isn't found Revis will be released.
