More NFL offseason: League minicamp dates | Latest news, notes

The world of college football recruiting is ... interesting. It's always funny when pro players get involved because they're clearly fans of certain schools and not fans of other schools.

Like, for instance, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton who's a big Auburn fan and, naturally, not a big Alabama fan. And Newton apparently took the chance to "diss" Alabama to Crimson Tide commit Mekhi Brown at a 7-on-7 tournament hosted by Newton's foundation.

Newton, like any good alum of a rival school, pointed out that Alabama "ain't where" Brown needs to be.

"(Newton) was just like, Alabama ain't where I need to be," Brown said via 247Sports.com. "He was talking to one of my teammates who had on an Alabama visor. He was talking about how he needed to get an Auburn visor and stuff like that. It was crazy."

Brown pointed out to Newton that he was already committed to Alabama.

"He was like, 'you don't need to worry about that," Brown said. "Come with Auburn."

We eagerly await Nick Saban's reaction.

Cardinals HC Bruce Arians expects RB Andre Ellington to get 25-30 touches per game

Can Cardinals running back Andre Ellington handle 400 touches in one season? Simply, no. Hardly any running back can, but that's not going to stop head coach Bruce Arians from talking about his young, dynamic runner as if he's the next Eric Dickerson.Via Mike Jurecki of 910 AM radio in Phoenix, Arians said Tuesday that Ellington is his No. 1 running back and "expects" him to handle 25-30 touches per game this season.

Don't pay much attention to Arians' numbers; it's just not going to happen. But it is yet an endorsement of Ellington and a sign that the Cardinals definitely plan on giving him more work after he touched the ball just 157 times in 2013. If Arians gives Ellington just 16-20 touches per week, that will be enough chances for him to post strong RB2 numbers in fantasy.
