The 2014 amateur draft is wrapping up with rounds 11-40 on Saturday afternoon, and the Padres have made what will surely be the most talked about pick of the day:

Johnny Manziel didn't even play baseball in college, though I'm sure he played in high school. He spent his college career on the gridiron, becoming the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy and getting a tiny little bit of media attention along the way.
Manziel was selected by the Cleveland Browns with the 24th overall pick in the NFL draft back in April. He's not playing baseball, I can tell you that right now. It's unlikely the Browns will allow him to play in the minor leagues during the summer, so this is a publicity stunt more than anything.
As you might remember, Manziel threw a bootleg first pitch at Petco Park back in 2013:

The Rangers drafted Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson in December's Rule 5 Draft. He actually played minor eague baseball for two years before returning to college and having success in football.

Browns WR Andrew Hawkins impressing in OTAs
Browns wide receiver Andrew Hawkins doesn't stand tall, but he is definitely standing out during organized team activities. He has been receiving passes and rave reviews from players on offense and defense.First-round rookie cornerback Justin Gilbert said he would rather guard Josh Gordon than Hawkins because "he's so little and quick. ... He's out there making plays every day."Quarterback Brian Hoyer paid the 5-foot-7 wideout quite a compliment through a comparison."The one guy I like more and more every day I work with is Andrew Hawkins," Hoyer said. "The guy runs his routes so hard. It reminds me a lot of my time in New England with (Wes) Welker, where the guy runs every route to win. He's going full blast."
Injuries come with the territory of being as small as Hawkins is -- he missed half of the 2013 season due to a foot injury -- but he could be produce a sizeable profit this year for fantasy owners if he stays healthy.Given Cleveland's uncertainties at wide receiver -- Gordon's upcoming suspension, Miles Austin's hamstrings, Earl Bennett being Earl Bennett, and just about everyone else either currently injured or still working their way back from an injury -- Hawkins should be on Hoyer's radar often. He may end up being the Browns' second-most productive receiver behind tight end Jordan Cameron. That may not give him every-week WR3 value, but his speed and quickness ensure that he will have a least a few big Sundays.
