More Offseason Analysis: Coaching changes, news | Free Agency | Draft

Just a week ago, it seemed crazy to think the Brooklyn Nets were in the hunt for a new coach. While he had his ups and downs, Jason Kidd seemed like a solid leader on the sidelines after finding a way to rally a struggling Nets team halfway through last season and eventually getting them to the second round of the playoffs. Then news broke that Kidd went after more power in the organization before finding a new place to coach in the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Nets didn't wait long to find a new coach either. A year ago, they seemed likely to hire Lionel Hollins before Kidd emerged as their guy. The Nets' Twitter account tweeted out that an agreement in principle with Hollins to be the new head coach has been reached.

Hollins was fired from his gig with the Memphis Grizzlies after the franchise's most successful season in their history. A 56-26 record was the best the organization had ever accomplished and they lost in the Western Conference finals, which was the deepest playoff run they'd ever had. But he butted heads with new management in the Grizzlies' organization and didn't see eye to eye on new philosophies. He was replaced by assistant Dave Joerger and took the 2013-14 season off from coaching.

He has a career record of 214-201 in the regular season and 18-17 in the playoffs.
