Chargers RB Ryan Mathews likely to miss another two weeks
Ryan Mathews will likely miss two more weeks as he recovers from a sprained MCL. Mathews has been out since Week 2. In his absence, the Chargers' rushing game has been spearheaded by Donald Brown and more recently by undrafted rookie Branden Oliver. Mathews is apparently targeting the Chargers' Week 8 game against the Broncos as a return date.
Mathews was originally projected to miss four to five weeks, so this is disappointing news for owners who hoped they might have him back by the early end of that timeline. Brown has been disastrous as the starter in Mathews' stead, but Oliver ran impressively in Week 5 and should have first crack at touches until Mathews returns. Oliver is worth a waiver pickup by all Mathews owners.
