NFL Hot News

Vikings RB Adrian Peterson suspended for remainder of season, to remain on exempt list

On a day of ups and downs in the saga of Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, the final piece of news on the matter today seems to be just that -- final. Or, at least it's final for this season. Tom Pelissero of USA Today Sports reports that arbitrator Shyam Das has ruled that the NFL can keep Peterson on its exempt list, in essence all but assuring he will not see the field again in 2014.From the time the news broke this morning that the NFL had suspended the star running back for the remainder of the season, there was speculation that if an arbitrator ruled that he should be removed from the exempt list, then an appeal of the suspension would mean he would be able to play while the appeal process played out. However, the kibosh was put on that with Das' ruling this afternoon.

So, in the landscape of fantasy football, nothing has really changed other than the fact that anyone holding onto AP in hopes of a glorious return for a miraculous playoff run can now let that dream die. RB Jerick McKinnon is still the Vikings' back that will see most of the action with Matt Asiata vulturing goal-line carries when they're there. Neither back is RB1 material but, depending on the matchup, they could both be worth a start at RB2 or flex from time to time.
