Watt admits he’s clueless in offensive huddle

J.J. Watt has been an offensive force for the Houston Texans this year.

The defensive end turned part-time tight end has played exactly three offensive snaps, caught exactly three passes and scored exactly three touchdowns. That's about as efficient as you can get in the NFL.

Watt's three touchdowns are arguably even more amazing when you consider the fact that he has no idea what's going on in the Texans offensive huddle because Ryan Fitzpatrick is basically speaking a foreign language.

"I have no idea what they're saying in the huddle on offense," Watt said this week, via ESPN.com. "I swear to God. I have no clue what the play calls are or anything. I know my little gambit of plays. I know what I'm supposed to do on those."

Watt's not kidding either. The offensive huddle really does confuse him. For proof, just consider this play from the Texans Week 13 win over the Titans, a game where Watt was mic'd up.

That's Watt in the huddle, pretending to listen. Because Watt doesn't understand anything Fitzpatrick actually said, Watt has to go up to his quarterback and ask him specifically what to do.

"What do I got?" Watt asks.

Fitzpatrick then responds with, "Run out in the flat."

Watt clearly takes directions well because this happened on the ensuing play.

Titans WR Justin Hunter to miss rest of season with spleen injury



Wide receiver Justin Hunter of the Tennessee Titans is expected to be placed on season-ending injured reserve due to a lacerated spleen he suffered in the Titans' 45-21 drubbing at the hands of the Houston Texans on Sunday. Hunter finishes his 2014 season with 28 catches for 498 yards and three touchdowns.Wide receiver duties for the Titans will fall mainly to Kendall Wright and Nate Washington.



It's a disappointing end to a disappointing season for the second-year receiver. Hunter has shown flashes of brilliance that support why many experts pegged his as a potential breakout sleeper this year. Unfortunately, those flashes were too infrequent for him to be considered legitimate in fantasy land.Hunter will likely enter 2015 off of the radar, but his talent, youth (23 years old) and size (6-foot-4) will likely make him a sleeper candidate yet again. He could be a great pick as a third-year breakout next season.
