ESPN reported Friday that Phil Jackson was set to actually put pen to paper and sign an agreement to take over basketball operations for the Knicks. Later that afternoon, the Knicks put out a press release stating that they would hold a press conference Tuesday afternoon for a "major announcement."

You can put two and two together here, right?
We'll have more on Jackson when the deal goes "official." Right now, the Knicks are "officially" having a press conference about something. But the reality is that Phil to New York is a done deal, and a signature NBA franchise mired in long-term failure has had a drastic change of direction.

Paul Pierce will not answer your Knicks questions
Ever since being traded to the Nets this past summer, Paul Pierce has made it a point to fan the flames of any rivalry that may exist between Brooklyn and the New York Knicks.
With the Nets being the superior team at the moment, currently riding a little win streak that has them holding down the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference standings, Pierce had no desire to give any shine to the Knicks, who have been dominating headlines this week with the reports of them signing Phil Jackson to a prominent front office position.
Asked Paul Pierce for his reaction to Phil Jax joining the Knicks: “I don’t talk about the Knicks. No Knicks questions. Ever.”

If you expected a different response, maybe one that included a well-thought-out statement on what Jackson might bring to the floundering franchise, then you haven’t been paying attention.
Pierce has taken his role with the Nets very seriously from day one, even going so far as to commit a playoff-style foul against LeBron James during the preseason simply to send a message.
He’s not going to change now, and I’m sure if you ask his teammates, they’ll tell you that Pierce’s mental state seems to be in just the right place.
