A day after the Patriots made huge waves by agreeing to contract terms with cornerback Darrelle Revis, they've reportedly made another splash on the defensive back market.

According to ESPN's Josina Anderson, the Patriots have agreed to a three-year contract with former Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner. NFL.com's Albert Breer reports the deal is worth $17.5 million.

Although he was recently reinstated from a year-long suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy, Browner will be suspended for the first four games of the season and won't be paid for the next four games after that.

But he seems happy with his new team. Wrote Browner on his Twitter page:

I am honored that the Patriots are making me part of their legendary organization, and am grateful for the opportunity Mr. [Robert] Kraft, Coach Belichick, Nick Caserio and the entire team have given me. Vikings re-sign WR Jerome Simpson



The Vikings have handed wide receiver Jerome Simpson a one-year deal for the third consecutive year. Simpson registered a career-high 726 receiving yards last season -- one yard more than his total from 2011. He caught 48 passes and scored once.



Simpson has outstanding athleticism and deep-threat ability. He is in his physical prime at age 28. It should only help that Norv Turner is his offensive coordinator, and Simpson has familiarity with head coach Mike Zimmer since both spent years together with the Bengals, although Zimmer was a defensive coach.But no matter how many things are in Simpson's favor, you know he'll find a way to fall short of expectations -- that is, unless you expect him to be nothing more than a WR4/5 in fantasy. In that case, you're right on.Oh, and Simpson, no stranger to a NFL suspension, will probably be disciplined by the legaue again for pleading guilty to a DWI.
