More NFL offseason: Mock Drafts | Prospect Rankings | Pro Days | Top free agents
Good news, Buccaneers fans. The interest in Darrelle Revis is heating up and heating up quickly. The Patriots and Eagles were named as teams who would like Revis if he hits free agency. Add the Browns and the Raiders to the mix as well.
Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle reports the Raiders are "strong players" in the "Revis sweepstakes" and adds the Browns to the list as well.
But here's the likely difference: the Raiders and Browns will probably need to trade for Revis instead of simply signing him.
Both Oakland and Cleveland have tons of cap space, but is Revis really going to value money more than anything when it comes to his next contract? It's possible he could but winning has to factor in somewhere and there's no guarantee the Raiders and Browns are winning.
That being said, Cleveland is an interesting fit. Joe Haden's already a high-end corner, but he would be a ridiculously good No. 2 corner. He and Revis might even be an all-time tandem ...
If #Browns get Revis to team with Haden, is that best CB tandem in history? I'd say yes....

It's widely believed the Bucs will release Revis before 4 p.m. ET if they aren't able to trade him. So it's not like Tampa's out there looking for a first-round pick in return (they gave up a first round pick to the Jets, who drafted Sheldon Richardson ... ouch).
That means Oakland and Cleveland have a short window and a minimal price to make a play for the superstar cornerback. The next 24 hours should be extremely interesting.

Who wants 'em?: Patriots WR Julian Edelman will hit open market
We are less than 30 minutes away from the official start of 2014 NFL free agency, and the large pool of available wide receivers is getting a late addition. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Julian Edelman and the Patriots were "unable to reach a deal today and he will test the market."The Patriots have reportedly been deep in talks with Edelman and recently offered him a three-year deal. Edelman became Tom Brady's top target in 2013 as he caught 105 passes for 1,056 yards and six touchdowns.
A lot is made about how the Patriots' offense seems to keep chugging along with interchangeable parts, and it has been worthy praise for a long time. Edelman basically became Wes Welker last season. But when young receivers such as Aaron Dobson or Kenbrell Thompkins didn't progress as quickly as needed and without the injured Rob Gronkowski, this offense struggled at times last season. At some point, you can't just rely on the next man stepping up. The Patriots want to keep Edelman; they need to keep Edelman. Of course, it makes the most financial sense for the player to see what another team will pay him, but I think a reunion would be best for Edelman's fantasy value.
