Phoenix Suns forward P.J. Tucker was suspended one game by the NBA Friday for striking Blake Griffin in the throat in the Suns' loss to the Clippers on Monday. Tucker will serve the suspension Wednesday for the Suns' game against the Cavaliers.
Here's video of the incident.
“He was standing there and Blake takes him to the ground and rolls on top of him and he just tries to get him off,” Coach Jeff Hornacek said of the incident (per AZCentral). "I don't know why that would be a suspension,” Hornacek said. “That shouldn't even have been a foul.”
Tucker said, "No comment. Just playing hard. That's it.”
"I think they got it right," Clippers coach Doc Rivers said of Tucker's ejection. “Again, Blake gets hit as much as anybody in the league. I think we've all seen it and it gets old. It really does."

Patrick Beverley goes at Russell Westbrook just as he did on the play that caused injury in 2013 playoffs (VIDEO)
In case Russell Westbrook had somehow forgotten that an aggressive play from Patrick Beverley in the 2013 playoffs was what led to his season-ending knee injury, he was reminded in his first meeting with Beverley since then less than halfway through the first quarter.
In virtually the same spot on the floor, as Westbrook slowed down to call a timeout, Beverley briefly grabbed him, causing Westbrook to react to the point where the two players needed to be separated.
The two had been going at each other on multiple possessions leading up to this one.
Beverley’s initial play that ultimately injured Westbrook last season wasn’t dirty at all. This one, however, clearly was intended to get under his opponent’s skin.
Beverley is embracing his role as an agitator this season, and got into it with Damian Lillard earlier this week.
