Former Packers wide receiver James Jones said over the weekend that he'd 'love' to play for the Carolina Panthers, but apparently the interest wasn't mutual. Instead, Jones is now headed for Oakland.
The wide receiver signed with the Raiders on Monday, the team announced. According to ESPN.com, the contract is a three year, $11.3 million deal.
Jones will be heading back to the Bay Area where he grew up. The 29-year-old went to high school in San Jose and attended college at San Jose State before being selected by the Packers in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft.
Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie is familiar with Jones. McKenzie was in the Packers front office for five seasons (2007-11) while Jones was in Green Bay.
In Oakland, Jones will join a receiving corps that includes Rod Streater, Denarius Moore and Andre Holmes. Despite the quarterback troubles Oakland had in 2013, all three receivers managed to end the season with over 400 yards.
Jones has gone over the 400-yard mark in six of his seven career seasons, including last season, where he finished the year with a career-high 817 yards. In 2012, Jones led the NFL with 14 touchdown catches.

Texans RB Arian Foster says he's been medically cleared following back surgery
Texans running back Arian Foster resurfaced on Twitter on Saturday after a short hiatus, and besides interactions about God, music, and Pokeacute;mon -- all which is a sliver why Foster is such an awesome follow -- he had some football news for everyone."And for those wondering, I've been medically cleared by my doctor," Foster tweeted. In case you forgot, Foster's 2013 season ended in November due to a back injury, and he had just four carries after October 13. He underwent surgery to fix a disc issue in his lower back about four months ago.
Foster was bothered by hamstring, chest and hand injuries prior to his debilitating back injury. He should be fine for offseason workouts and training camp, but the injury concerns surrounding him are a major red flag. Handling the ball more than 390 times in 2010 and 2012 may have really taken a long-term toll on his body. Foster was still productive when he was able to finish games last season; he averaged almost 14 fantasy points per game from Weeks 1-6. He will be a very interesting risk/reward pick, and I'm sure we'll have countless discussions about him during the summer. I think he can still be a fine RB1. The Texans really need Foster to return to form, especially since Ben Tate has departed for Cleveland.
