Andre Roberts is heading to Washington. Andre Roberts is heading to Washington. (USATSI)

More NFL offseason: Mock Drafts | Prospect Rankings | Pro Days | Top free agents

One of the biggest concerns for the Redskins this offeason was landing a second viable wideout to line up across from Pierre Garcon. They've done that, agreeing to a deal with Andre Roberts, CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reports.

La Canfora reported Monday that Roberts, who played for the Cardinals the last four years, would generate interest from the Redskins and Browns could be interested. Mike Jones of the Washington Post first reported the Redskins closed the deal.

Free agency officially opens at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday but Roberts and Washington have agreed to a four-year deal with the following terms.

Roberts had a down year in 2013 after shifting out of the starting lineup behind Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd. He still managed to catch 43 passes for 471 yards and a pair of touchdowns, though.

Those are better numbers than either of Washington's wideouts behind Garcon, Santana Moss and Leonard Hankerson.

Without a first-round pick in the draft, this offseason was going to be difficult for the Redskins. Robert Griffin III should be happy they found a value wideout to help boost the offense.

Roberts is a smaller, shiftier receiver, so it's not like Washington's investing in a future No. 1 or anything here. They have a smallish receiving corps as well. (Garcon is 6-0) But help is help and if Washington's being prudent with their cash in free agency, that's a good thing.

Bears get rid of RB Michael Bush

The Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs reported Monday that the Bears cut running back Michael Bush two seasons into his four-year, $14 million deal. Bush worked mostly as the team's goal-line back when Matt Forte was healthy. In 2012 and 2013 combined, Bush ran for 608 yards and averaged 3.4 yards per carry. He started just one game.

So, Bush is leaving Chicago. I presume he's leaving very slowly. He showed Michael Turner-like burst with the Bears (uh, that's not a good thing). It got to the point where the Bears were hurting their offense by taking Forte out near the end zone. Bush's bigger body didn't lead to better results; he scored eight times in two seasons. Bush will turn 30 years old this June, and considering the soft market that will meet many better, more versatile backs, Bush should cost only the minimum to sign. He's unlikely to have fantasy value again.
