San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick took to Twitter on Friday to deny a TMZ report that he was being investigated for an alleged sexual assault.
That same day, Miami Police Chief Manuel Orosa said, via the Miami Herald, that "it's too early to determine what the evidence indicates," adding: “We have to examine evidence and wait for some tests to come back, including toxicology reports. We can present it to the state attorney and they can decide whether to continue.”
On Thursday, a Miami police spokesperson told MercuryNews.com that "There's no evidence of a crime or a sexual assault. This report is simply an incident report taken at the woman's request. ... there are no specific allegations of wrongdoing."
A woman who said she had a sexual history with Kaepernick told police that on April 1 she passed out at the apartment of Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette, who was there along with Kaepernick and wide receiver Quinton Patton. She woke up in the hospital the next day but didn't know how she got there.
According to the Herald, someone in the apartment called police, and when they arrived, they were concerned about her frame of mind and called Fire Rescue, which transported her to the hospital.

The Herald reports that the woman underwent a rape test, though the results haven't been made public.
Kaepernick tweeted Friday that, "The charges made in the TMZ story and other stories I've seen are completely wrong. They make things up about me that never happened. I take great pride in who I am and what I do, but I guess sometimes you have to deal with someone who makes things up. I want to thank all of the people who have shared their encouraging sentiments. I assure you that your faith is not misplaced."
A short time later, Kaepernick's agent released this statement: "We stand by Colin 100 percent and are fully confident that the truth will be evident once the facts come to light."
Lockette's spokesperson had no comment for the Herald, and Patton's agent did not return calls.

Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski right on schedule with his knee rehab
Here's a quick update on Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, who is spending a second consecutive offseason trying to heal his broken body. Gronkowski suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee last December. NFL Network's Albert Breer reported Friday that Gronkowski visited the man who performed his reconstructive knee surgery, Dr. James Andrews, this week and is "right where he should be" in his rehab. He will also begin jogging soon, according to Breer.
A lot of discussions this summer on Gronkowski's fantasy value will echo what was said about him at that time last year, only exchanging the words "forearm" and "back" for "knee." And my approach with him in drafts will be the same. I know a healthy Gronkowski is worth a high pick, probably in the second round. But I don't trust that he will be healthy for Week 1, and I am not going to put such a big investment into someone who is probably going to miss a couple of games at the start of the season, and may not truly be 100 percent for a while after that.It depends on how much risk you like to take in your drafts. I'm very risk-averse. I'll let someone else pay a high price for Gronk. If he is totally good to go for Week 1 or shortly thereafter and puts up numbers anywhere close to 2011 Gronk, it's a great move. I think the odds of such a scenario of much less than even.
