The Colts are hoping that former Miami Hurricane forward Erik Swoope can go the way of Jimmy Graham, Julius Thomas and Tony Gonzalez, after Indianapolis signed Swoope as a TE on Sunday.

Swoope was among 19 undrafted free agents signed by Indianapolis following the draft and GM Ryan Grigson clearly saw enough athleticism in the 6-foot-5, 220-pounder to take a chance on him. Swoope has never played organized football at any level, but he has worked out for several teams, including the Broncos, over the past few months.

With only five picks in the draft, the Colts had plenty of room to use on undrafted free agents. He might not make the roster with Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen already in Indy, but an athletic project such as Swoope could be worth stashing on the practice squad in the off-chance he develops into something worthwhile.

Although he only averaged five points this past season for the Hurricanes, he finished the season strong with double-digit efforts in six of his last seven games. Swoope started 27 of 110 games during his four-year career.

Giants' WR corps continues to get younger with LSU's Odell Beckham

Well, I guess the Giants really aren't sold on Rueben Randle. They proved that tonight by taking someone from his alma mater. The Giants selected LSU wide receiver Odell Beckham with the 12th pick in Thursday night's NFL Draft.

The Giants now have Beckham, Randle, and Jerrel Jernigan to compete for their No. 2 WR job. All of those guys are currently under the age of 25. Beckham is small, but he is a polished wideout with 4.43-40 speed. He is also very dangerous as a returner. This has to make Eli Manning happy. As far as fantasy value, it all depends on what happens in camp. Beckham will have to fight for snaps, but, yes, he has loads of upside.
