While there is no exact timetable for Carson Palmer to return from the nerve issue in his shoulder, a league source said the Cardinals feel like he is making steady progress and they are very comfortable with quarterbacks on their roster.

They are not pursuing any trade options and have not worked out any quarterbacks and do not plan to do that either.

Drew Stanton, who started Arizona's Week 2 25-14 road win over the Giants, is on schedule to start in Palmer's place again Sunday vs. the 49ers.

Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles has high ankle sprain

We won't be seeing last year's top fantasy running back on a football field for a while. The Chiefs confirmed Monday that Jamaal Charles suffered a high ankle sprain in the first quarter of Sunday's loss to the Broncos. Head coach Andy Reid didn't estimate when Charles will play again but did say that it's not a "real severe" sprain. Charles gained 12 yards on three touches before departing. He has rushed for 23 yards on nine carries this season.

A high ankle sprain usually requires between three and six weeks to heal, and Charles risks suffering a setback if he pushes the ankle too hard too soon. It's a discouraging development for all of those owners who paid top dollar for Charles, understandably, only two see him struggle through five quarters of play. But the silver lining here is that Charles' backup, Knile Davis, would probably be starting for many teams in this league. The second-year back is a powerful, 227-pound, three-down back. He is big, fast and has good hands for catching passes. In relief of Charles yesterday, Davis touched the ball 28 times -- 22 carries, six receptions -- and gained 105 yards with two touchdowns. He should be the top waiver-wire add of the week in all leagues and has rock-solid RB2 value in the Chiefs' ball-control offense.
