Falcons OC praises Antone Smith, backfield will remain four-headed monster
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution was able to interview Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter in which he praised Antone Smith for making the most of his opportunities."Antone is on a hot streak with the ball in his hands," Koetter said. "I've never seen a guy on a streak where a guy is making this many big plays based on percentage of time he's in there. Antone is improving in all areas but the thing he is best at is when he gets the ball in space. That's his thing." Koetter goes on to mention that Atlanta's backfield is a four-headed monster and will remain that way."Right now, we are trying to play four guys there. Antone is making the most of his chances and that's all he can do."
While it's nice that Smith is getting noticed by his OC, it doesn't help anyone for fantasy purposes if the Falcons continue to use a combination of Steven Jackson, Jacquizz Rodgers, Smith and rookie Devonta Freeman. In any given week, they each have flex value, but the individual upside remains very limited. It's a better real-life situation than fantasy.
