Aldon Smith isn't the only 49ers player dealing with legal woes, cornerback Chris Culliver is too. Culliver was in a California courtroom on April 11 where he pleaded not guilty to charges of misdemeanor hit-and-run and felony possession of brass knuckles.
The charges stem from a March 28 incident in San Jose, Calif., where Culliver allegedly hit a bicyclist with his vehicle. Culliver then allegedly attempted to flee the scene, but he ended up getting cornered in by someone in a car who witnessed Culliver hitting the bicyclist. Culliver then allegedly threatened the eyewitness with brass knuckles before driving off.
The 49ers cornerback won't have to appear in court again until May 14 when a judge will decide if there's enough evidence to move the case to trial, according to the San Jose Mercury News. The bicyclist who was hit was treated and released with minor injuries after the incident.
Culliver hasn't played for the 49ers since Super Bowl XLVII. The 25-year-old made headlines before the Super Bowl when he made anti-gay comments in the week leading up to the game. Culliver later apologized for his remarks, "I'm sorry if I offended anyone. They were very ugly comments. Hopefully I learn and grow from this experience and this situation."
After never missing a game in his first two seasons with the team, Culliver missed the entire 2013 season after tearing his ACL during training camp.
Besides Culliver's case, the 49ers are also going to have to deal with the fallout from Smith's arrest on Sunday. The linebacker was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport and charged for making a false report of a bomb threat.

QB specialist works out Griffin III; says old RG3 is back
Quarterback guru Terry Shea recently worked with Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, and came away saying that, "he reminded me of the old Robert Griffin that I knew coming out of Baylor for those eight-10 weeks we worked together in 2012".The six day stretch in March where the two worked together gave Shea a chance to assess Griffin III after his tenuous second season, much of which was spent trying to convince head coach Mike Shanahan that he could play. "He looked 100 percent healthy," Shea reported to Jim Corbett of USA Today on Friday. "I didn't let up on him and, boy, he kept coming".Shea has worked with other quarterbacks such as Blaine Gabbert, Matthew Stafford, Sam Bradford, and Josh Freeman.
Oh, let's hope this proves to be true! Griffin was one of the most exciting rookie quarterbacks we've ever seen when he burst onto the scene in 2012, passing for 3,200 yards, rushing for over 800, and combining for 27 total touchdowns while leading the Redskins to the playoffs. Last season was widely considered a disapointment for Griffin III. Even though he threw for a few more yards (3,203), his rushing yards and touchdowns were way down, while his interceptions were up.Heading into 2014, RG3 is set up for success. His weapons have been upgraded, as the 'skins have brought in wide receivers DeSean Jackson and Andre Roberts to compliment Pierre Garcon and TE Jordan Reed. With these weapons, Griffin III shouldn't need to run as much as in the past, which will hopefully lead to him staying healthy.
