Ray Rice has been indefinitely suspended by the NFL. (USATSI) Ray Rice has been indefinitely suspended by the NFL. (USATSI)

With the video that surfaced Monday showing former Ravens running back Ray Rice punching his fiancee in an Atlantic City casino elevator, the NFL and the team were adamant that they had never seen the video before.

According to a TMZ report Tuesday, that's because the league never asked the casino to see the footage from the security cameras. However, ABC News (via ESPN) reports that a Revel Hotel and Casino spokesman said the casino did make a copy of the elevator surveillance video for police.

Meanwhile, the NFL sent out another statement Tuesday morning, reading, "Security for Atlantic City casinos is handled by the New Jersey State Police. Any videos related to an ongoing criminal investigation are held in the custody of the state police. As we said yesterday: We requested from law enforcement any and all information about the incident, including the video from inside the elevator. That video was not made available to us."

TMZ also that Rice's lawyer also had a copy of the video.

The Associated Press viewed a longer version of the tape, and according to the news wire, Rice and Palmer can be heard shouting obscenities at each other before he punched her. She also appeared to spit in his face.

From AP: "The higher-quality video shown to the AP shows Rice made no attempt to cover up the incident. After Palmer collapses, he drags her out of the elevator and is met by some hotel staff. One of them can be heard saying, "She's drunk, right?" And then, "No cops." But Rice didn't respond. The video was shown to the AP on condition of anonymity because the official isn't authorized to release it."

On Monday, the Ravens released Rice and the NFL suspended him indefinitely.

Cardinals RB Andre Ellington active for MNF; Chargers TE Antonio Gates also active

Despite a slightly torn tendon in his left foot, Cardinals running back Andre Ellington is active for tonight's game against the Chargers. He isn't expected to receive a full workload and will likely share carries with Jonathan Dwyer and Stepfan Taylor. On the Chargers' side, tight end Antonio Gates is also active despite being limited by a hamstring injury.

Hopefully you didn't wait on Ellington. Yes, he will play, but it's impossible to tell how much -- I think he'll be very limited -- and the matchup isn't great. This backfield should be avoided right now.Gates should also see decreased snaps. This news puts a little dent into Ladarius Green's upside for this game, but he is still a worthwhile fantasy start. The Cardinals' defense struggled like no other against tight ends last season.
