Via the Miami Herald, the Heat cut Chris Johnson and Reggie Williams Monday as training camp cuts begin to take shape. The Herald reports that five players are playing for two spots.

The Heat waived Chris Johnson and Reggie Williams after returning from Rio de Janeiro. The roster stands at 18 players, but teams can only carry 15 players during the regular season.

At this point, five players are competing for two roster spots: guards Shannon Brown, Tyler Johnson and Andre Dawkins, and forwards Khem Birch and Shawn Jones. Based on playing time and the Heat's needs, Brown and Dawkins appear to have inside tracks, but even those players aren't locks. The Heat also could waive all five players and sign two free agents to fill out its roster.

Dawkins has a lot of upside and should get a long look. Birch may struggle and not being excellent at any one thing. Brown's a veteran with playoff experience. If he's not a lock, there are no locks on that roster.

Miami could use some more forward depth, despite point guard being such an issue. One of Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole will be good on any given night, and there's Shabazz Napier for whatever purpose.

Don't be surprised if both Johnson and Williams wind up on other rosters or with lucrative overseas deals in the near future.

Lil B, who once cursed Kevin Durant, hoots at Thunder star’s injury

Kevin Durant said he’s now cool with Lil B, the rapper who cursed the Thunder superstar never to win an NBA championship.

Then Durant fractured his foot, hurting the Thunder’s title odds and his MVP contention.

So you tell me whether the curse is really off.

Actually, how about Lil B tell us?

That’s bad news for Durant. He better take the hint and contact the BasedGod.

I wouldn’t want to see what’s next if he doesn’t.
