Marcus Lattimore's future has become hazy. (USATSI)
49ers running back Marcus Lattimore had one of the most devastating football injuries you'll ever see in October 2012 when he blew out his knee, tearing three ligaments, while trying to gain yards for the University of South Carolina. Despite the questions about his future, San Francisco drafted the potential first-round pick in the fourth round in 2013 to give him a chance at a professional career.
After sitting out all of the 2013 season while recovering, he had begun to practice this past week. But it's beginning to look like he might never play in the NFL, and according to ESPN's Adam Caplan, Lattimore is expected to retire.
Lattimore was not with the team during its loss Sunday to the Rams.
“Did not see Marcus,” 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said after the game, via CSN Bay Area. “I'm sure we'll have an announcement about that.”
Lattimore's agent, Michael Perrett, has a slightly different story, though.
No decision has been made on @MarcusLattimore 's future.

Either way, the news surrounding Lattimore doesn't sound positive. Which is a real shame for a running back who could have made a big-time impact on the NFL if he hadn't been so badly injured in the amateur ranks.
Marcus Lattimore retires. And Todd Gurley wonders why the hell he should strap on a Georgia helmet again.

Ravens TE Owen Daniels might play 1 week after undergoing knee scope
Ravens tight end Owen Daniels will be a game-time decision Sunday night, a pretty remarkable feat since he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery just one week ago. Daniels is officially listed as questionable and was able to go through limited practice twice this week. According to the Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson, Daniels "moved well" during Friday's session. If Daniels is ruled out on Sunday, he will be once again replaced by Crockett Gillmore against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
I don't expect Daniels to play, but his recovery has been exceptional. The fact that he is even being considered for this game by the Ravens' coaching staff speaks volumes. Knee scopes usually take 3-4 weeks to heal; Daniels was practicing five days after his. That's Wolverine-like healing ability right there.OK, maybe not. But it's still eye-opening.Gillmore had five catches for 52 yards last week against the Bengals. Pittsburgh hasn't been nearly as flexible to tight ends as Cincinnati, but the Steelers have allowed five TE touchdowns, so the 6-foot-6 Gillmore is worth consideration if you are about ready to throw your hands up in disgust at your tight end situation.
