Yes, we know: This falls firmly under, "Well, what do you expect him to say?" but we're mentioning it here because there's not much else going on this time of year. With that out of the way, here goes: Cornerback Aqib Talib, who signed a six-year, $57 million deal with the Broncos in March after spending a season and a half with the Patriots, had this to say about the never-ending Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning discussions.
“You gotta go Peyton Manning," Talib told NFL Network (via CSNNE.com's Tom Curran). "Tom is a good friend of mine -- what's up Tom, baby. (Manning) had an awesome year. He tore it up. He like set the record for touchdowns. He beat Tom in the AFC Championship. You gotta give it to Peyton. Tom know that's my dog man, he know.”
Talib is now also teammates with former Pats wideout Wes Welker. During January's AFC Championship matchup, Welker knocked Talib from the game after colliding with the cornerback on a questionable pick play. New England coach Bill Belichick went so far as to call Welker's actions "deliberate," but the NFL later ruled that the game officials were right not to flag Welker.
Either way, Talib says there is no ill will between he and Welker.
“Man, me and Wes we good, man. It's a football play, man. It just so happened it happened on a stage in the AFC Championship Game. I watched the play 1,000 times. I'm sure Wes didn't do it on purpose.”
So there you go.
Looking ahead to 2014, Talib, T.J. Ward and DeMarcus Ware were signed this offseason by Broncos GM John Elway for the sole purpose of bringing "engery and toughness" to a defense that was embarrassed by the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLVIII.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis was the Bengals' 3rd-team RB during Tuesday OTAs
No one is competing with Giovani Bernard to be the Bengals' starting running back. He is the starter, no questions asked. That was emphasized during Tuesday's organized team activities as Bernard was the running back when the first-team offense was on the field.But the job to back up Bernard is up for grabs. And judging from Tuesday's developments, it seems like the rookie is ahead of the veteran at this early stage. According to Paul Dehner Jr. of the Cincinnati Enquirer, second-round pick Jeremy Hill lined up with the second-team offense, and BenJavrus Green-Ellis ran with the third team.
BJG-E has averaged less than four yards per carry each season since 2011. He bottomed out at 3.4 yards per carry last season. If Hill can get up to speed quickly with the pro game, the Bengals should have no problem letting Green-Ellis go and saving a couple million dollars in the process. Bernard will be the team's majority runner and a probable RB1. Meanwhile, the 235-pound Hill could be a touchdown maven.
