Costa Rica confirm 23-man squad
Costa Rica coach Jorge Luis Pinto confirmed his 23-man FIFA World Cup squad on Saturday, led by Bryan Ruiz.
Ruiz, on loan at PSV Eindhoven from Fulham, captains a team set to face Uruguay, Italy and England in Group D.
Arsenal-owned Olympiacos striker Joel Campbell is among those to have made the squad.
Pino initially named a 26-man squad with four on standby, and the three making way included Real Salt Lake forward Alvaro Saborio.
Saborio was ruled out with a foot injury in a devastating blow for a Costa Rica side likely to struggle in a tough group.
Midfielder Carlos Hernandez and Deportivo Saprissa defender Kendall Watson were the other players to make way.
Everton’s Bryan Oviedo is missing having been ruled out in early May as he continues his recovery from a broken leg.
