The Eagles managed to beat the Redskins 37-34 Sunday, pushing them to an NFL-best 3-0 record and a one-game lead in the NFC East.

So naturally cornerback Cary Williams lashed out about Chip Kelly's conditioning and practices. Why wouldn't he?

"I was just trying to conserve as much energy during the week so I can be as effective as I can be on Sundays," Williams said Sunday. "It was just such a dogfight. It didn't help that I wasn't healthy through the week and it didn't help that I had a dogfight before the week and then I had a dogfight during the game. It's just tough, man. We have to start taking care of our guys, taking care of our players, doing the right thing from there.

"I didn't practice every week; there's a reason for that. A lot of guys had no legs. A lot of guys were in a dogfight before the game even started. We have to take care of our guys during the week to make sure we're fresh come Sundays."

Again: the Eagles are undefeated and won again on Sunday. They're 3-0. Granted, they gave up more than 400 passing yards to Kirk Cousins, but is ripping your coach's conditioning style really something you want to do after a victory? Apparently yes.

"I'm saying [practicing every day] impacted a lot of people," Williams said. "A lot of people, but I'm just the only one man enough to get up here and say anything about it, talk to y'all as a man and discuss an issue that, obviously, in my opinion, is an issue in our starts [to games].

"But again, I'm just employee 26, and whatever they deem necessary to get us ready for Sunday is whatever it is. If we have to find energy from outside sources to start games quick, then we've got to do it. But right now, the way we're doing it, it's not conducive to success."

Again: the Eagles are UN-DE-FEATED. The defense is a concern, but this isn't the sort of talk you want to hear after a win. Williams got smoked by DeSean Jackson on a deep pass and admitted it "upset" him, so maybe this is a matter of wounded pride. Whatever the case, it probably won't make Kelly too happy.

NFL Hot News

Report: Texans RB Arian Foster is a 'longshot' to play today

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport tweeted this morning that Texans running back Arian Foster is seen as a "longshot" to play today due to a hamstring injury. If he isn't active against the Giants, Alfred Blue and Jonathan Grimes would take over Houston's backfield. Ronnie Brown might also pitch in.Foster topped 100 rushing yards in each of first two games and is second in the league in ground yardage.

Foster must have felt left out after basically every other offensive skill player got hurt in Week 2. It's not evident when or how Foster injured his hamstring since he made it through last week's blowout win over the Raiders. Whatever the case, he's not looking good for today. Blue will probably see the majority of the touches -- he got 11 carries last week while Grimes got only three. The Giants are pretty good against the run, and considering how much we don't know about Foster's backups, neither of them are more than longshot as a flex. A committee attack is likely coming. We'll see if Foster can return for Week 4. He did go through three limited practices this week.
