Lions RBs Joique Bell and Theo Riddick OUT for Week 5; Reggie Bush to shoulder load

The Detroit Lions have officially declared running backs Joique Bell (concussion) and Theo Riddick (hamstring) as OUT for the team's Week 5 game versus Buffalo. This figures to mean Reggie Bush will take the majority of the snaps in the backfield this week. George Winn will serve as his backup.Bell has led the Lions in rushing yards through four games with 152 while adding nine catches for 73 yards. Bush has 148 yards rushing and 18 catches for 112 yards. Riddick has only seen six carries for 22 yards on the year.

In both standard and PPR formats, the Bills are among the top-10 defenses in fantasy points allowed to running backs. However, due to the absence of Bell and Riddick, Bush figures to see a lot of action in both the running attack and the passing game. Bills Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kyle Williams is also listed as doubtful, which only helps Lions fantasy players all around. Bush is a low-end RB1 this week, especially in PPR formats.Riddick is a player who was getting a lot of buzz during the preseason, but he hasn't gotten the opportunities. Should Bell suffer any setbacks coming back from his concussion, and Riddick can get back from the hamstring, he's someone worth rostering and maybe even using as a spot-start as the Lions have Minnesota, New Orleans and Atlanta coming up. All three of those teams are below average at stopping running backs. Regardless of who's playing, the Lions backfield has a nice stretch coming up.
